General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I finally got my stupid room sounding decent in the lower bass area. My speakers sound pretty nice up top, though not "great", and seem very clear but don't have the dynamic range they used to have. Everything is clear but doesn't have "impact" like it used to have.
The difference from the last "really good" system are:
Lexicon MC-1 replaced Lexicon DC-1
Power sucks here -- very dirty compared to last place
Using Polycrystal rack now -- before nothing
Had BAT VK-5i between DC-1 and Plinius SA-100 before -- now straight connection
Room is different -- old room was really weirdly laid out but was fairly well damped
Do you think the BAT was the magic ticket? I really liked it when I had it but I thought the move to the MC-1 was a good trade. Perhaps not?
