Now you have me thinking that maybe I should be looking at my source (Rotel 971) as well! I guess adding a dac wouldn't be all that expensive...it's worth a try. But I still would like to see if anyone has any suggestions for speakers or a sub. If people agree that I should leave that part of the chain alone and look elsewhere in the system, then I'll head over to the digital board and ask about a suitable dac. I just didn't want to mess with the cd player considering the future of digital is kind of unclear. Money on speakers is *usually* money well spent despite any changes in source material.
