Sunfire True Subwoofer 2 - mechanical hummm - problem

I have a True Subwoof Mk II, about a year old. Bought used. Has a nasty transformer hum audible with or without signal (just plug it in and away it goes).
- What causes Transformer hum?
- What can be done about it?
- Do all Sunfire True Subs hum?
