Are passive subs worth buying - Kenwood Series 21 tower speakers

I'm looking at a Kenwood Series 21 HT system. It has four tower speakers, the front two with inbuilt subs. They are a 3-way, 4 speaker system - the amp is 6 channels @ 100w each.

Are these inbuilt subs any good? The system has no cpacity to add a powered sub - claims it doesn't need one?

Anyone got one?
