Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I have a pair of Target HR70

They are 28" tall with a 6x8" top plate, made of welded steel and black powder-coated. They have two large square steel columns that can hold a lot of fill. I used them with Focus Audio 688s, which were approximately 7" wide by 10" deep, and the top plate was just the right size.

My only complaint is that the bottom base can flex a little when you really load it down with column fill and speakers. It looks beefy in pictures, but when you turn it over it's just a relatively thin stamping. Still, that's better than most of what you can find in the 28" height range.

Because there's a shortage of choices in this size range, the HR70 is relatively common. So they are not hard to find used. I'm not sure they're worth the ~$500 they sell for new these days.
