Kids got older

When the calendar turned to 2013, my professional life flipped completely, when I got sent to the public high school. There was simply no hiding behind the "I'm a white collar professional" facade. You had to get out there, and reveal yourself. You had to share your own educational background and experiences - good, bad, and mediocre. You had to be honest with your mistakes, and state how, if you had a do-over, you'd avoid or overcome them.

I found it interesting that the boys paid rapt attention, and wanted me to tell tales of kicking ass in sports. Alas, that would have been a lie; my teams sucked. OTOH, the girls wanted me to discuss relationships, or lack thereof. I said the same thing to them, as said here: I kept getting rejected, and the only two types who didn't reflexively say NO were (a) the sports hacks, and (b) the nerd girls.

My student, above, had the Angelina Jolie look. She and several other students introduced me to Krewella. My wife brought our two kids to the school. My students thought that my wife was older than I was. Some of the girls then got excited: "When I grow up, I wanna be like her, bagging a younger guy!"

So, with a new job, awesome culture, more music, and older kids, I thought it was time to move on from Totem's The One. We got the kick-ass Element Ember. My wife didn't like The One's almost black finish. Thus, the Ice white Ember was much more to her liking.
