It's not that we're unhappy in any way. The speakers like any are built to a price point, whether that's $500/pair or $2000/pair. I guess above $5000/pair they can use $50 caps and justify it. But possibly even then, not.
I absolutely loved my Tituses from the get-go, but after a couple years read about folks upgrading crossovers in speakers (like I had done with tube amps over the years). My only experience was with a 1960s vintage Dynaco SCA-35 integrated amp. The original coupling caps between stages were called 'monkey $h!t' for their greenish hue? or something. Anyway, replaced with $1.50 each 'Orange Drops' and noted a nice improvement. Years later, dug into it a bit more and splurged on $8 each Hovland 'MusiCaps' and RTX RelCaps. Another large step up in resolution and musicality ...
FF to the Tituses. The original caps ... unmarked as to manufacturer but assumed to be very cheap $1 caps? I don't know really. See link for pix. Once again, the $18 cap made a huge difference ...
