RE: Your available upgrade values are drifting away from originals to make it a toss up

Thanks, but the inductor value changed a bit from original. It was .26mH (calculated, not known for sure, to get 6kHz crossover point with original 2.7uF cap, which was marked, I think).

The replacement inductor I chose was .22mH, so bumped the cap to 3.0uF to get as close as I could (6.2kHz, but with tolerances could be in the 5.8 to 6.6kHz range). I measured the cap as received at 3.11uF on my cheap meter so ... 6.1kHz? actual.

Things sounded so much better ... at least to me!

For the newer caps I'm considering, 3.3uF seems more common, with f = 5.9kHz ... this is a bit lower assuming 6.0kHz was original, but still is within tolerance ranges of caps and inductor, which would both be 3% or even 2%.

This is in the pretty high treble, in the Titus the mid/woofer runs full range (50Hz - 6kHz) without a filter or crossover. So the tweeter is just coming in on the higher treble ... which of course still does make a major contribution to the sonics. Hopefully shifting this +/-100Hz or so won't affect things too much, but I could in fact be right on the 6.0kHz original crossover design point.

I'm not at all concerned about resale value, will likely just do this once and assuming I like it (or heaven forbid, cannot tell a difference!) I'd likely just leave it in for the rest of my life ... I don't change things very often!

Thanks so much for the response.
