Thank you for interesting reply. I do try to reply to those posters in need so point by point.

1) Exposure to SOTA equipment. To which SOTA equipment should I avail myself to audition that I have missed? I recently had a reply from Kal Rubinson of Stereophile who noted that reviewers listen and evaluate gear at shows, friend's homes, dealers, and not in their own homes. I was not aware that you knew of all the stereo systems I have auditioned since 1990. You must have followed me around a lot to know of EVERY single piece of equipment I have auditioned over 27 years and to conclude that I don't listen to anything SOTA. Wow = I am indeed impressed.

2)"diatribe about an AN 2 way speaker superior to all and everything else is crap." I have listed many times large lists of speakers I very much like - I explain too why I like the AN E and J. For the room size, balance, efficiency, price paid (and resale value - thus over all bang for the dollar - there is a reason I prefer it more to the competition that I have thus far auditioned). I'd be happy to consider alternate suggestions but in general no one gives me alternate offerings - instead they cite that they like a $50,000+ loudspeaker more than the $5,500 speaker I am talking about. I'm happy to consider something else. Instead - crickets.

3)Listening space - What is the problem with my listening space? Large speakers are designed for large rooms - small speakers for small rooms. A small speaker in a large room often sounds horrible and vice-versa.

My current room is on the small side being in Hong Kong. On the other had the room is full solid concrete Which can if need be softened. It is more difficult to make wood and plaster "solid" via treatments.

There is a limit to the size of the speakers I can bring into this space but not the quality of the speakers I can use in this space.

Perhaps because you maybe don't get out much - you might wish to know that pretty much every loudspeaker maker has a Flagship line of speakers and while I can't bring in their biggest model in their flagship line I can certain bring in their model that is designed for a smaller room.

An example would be if I were to look at Focal Utopia loudspeakers I would be able to review the excellent Diablo Utopia standmount or the Scala V2 Utopia. Both of these speakers would sound better in my space than in a large room. Another reviewer with a large room would be better suited to the Grand Utopia EM. These are generally just lesser bass versions and designed for smaller room versions of their big speakers.

Generally, small speakers in big rooms suffer badly and big speakers overwhelm small rooms. There are some perceptions. Corner loaded and directional speakers can be large and still do well in a small room. Speakers like Tannoy can be quite large and would do well in my space for example. Not all but some.
