Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

?...

...the Tannoy Monitor Gold is a drive unit. It has no spring loaded terminals. These would be on the speaker cabinet that the drive unit was part of.

The Monitor Gold came in 3 sizes ( 10", 12" and 15") and the cabinets that the versions went into are many from smallish simple reflex cabinets for the 10" to bigger reflexes (e.g.Lancaster) for the 12" and 15" up to the rear horn loaded Guy R. Fountain Autograph.

So your question needs refining in order for someone to answer it.

NB: I am unaware of any genuine Tannoy cabinets with Monitor Gold drivers having spring loaded terminals. The attachment to the outside world was part of the crossover unit ( with adjustable treble attenuation) and has screw terminals suitable for bare wire or spades.
