RE: So what are the advantages of running subs in stereo versus dual subs in mono?

Not much difference if the subs are crossed over low enough with a steep enough slope to avoid any bleed over, but this is rarely the case. It's typical to low pass the sub around 80Hz with content well into the range where it's easily localizable.

The subs pictured above are low passed at 52hz and I still prefer the greater soundstaging I get when running as a left and right. It's kind of like those speakers that were so popular from many manufacturers yrs ago with built in powered subs. The Heresys are running full range with the subs in close proximity allowing the Heresys to retain there original character, JUST BIGGER.

My $$$$$ very expensive servo sub runs in mono because I only have one, but even with its super steep slope, low passed again at 52hz it always sounds best when either centered between the mains, or in either front corner firing across the front wall giving the illusion the whole wall is the sub.

Either way, I'm sure the situation would be improved with a second sub.

That said, properly set up the single servo sub trounces the Dual Daytons, it should, it was 20 times the price of one of the Dayton Sub1200's.
