As I replied to Bare above, I just listened to the PSBs and a couple Focals and didn't think they were up to the standard of the Celestions as I recall them. But the listening setup was less than ideal and my negative verdict may be unfair.
As for your TV analogy, TVs today don't use picture tubes but speakers today use cones and domes as they did 50 years ago. btw 50 year old cars were much more comfortable to ride in and especially for making out and, if you were lucky, getting laid. (-;
