RE: Are there any open baffle monitor speaker designs?

The Betsy already mentioned is the smallest(8")pure open baffle that comes to mind. It's still a floorstanding speaker though whose profile is very low in height. If you're looking for a more full range design in a pure open baffle, maybe the Spatial M4 Turbo S. Once again, a floorstander with 2-12" drivers, but fairly manageable in size. There are a few hybrids out there as well. These would have an open baffle driver for the mid/highs with a second driver in an enclosure for the bass. Check out Omega in this regard if you're looking for a standmount approach.
With this all said and once again this has already been mentioned, go over to the Open Baffle forum at AudioCircle. There you'll find an endless number of DIY approaches plus discussions of designs currently in production. Open baffle designs are dream for DIYers as you'll find out.
