The swap out kit for a new amp, back plate, etc, which uses a digital trnsformer and apparently modernizes the model to a silver, is $400. I am not sure of the value here as I was never hugely impressed with the sub before, but it could have been performing wrong even then, as I got it used for free when it was taken to a local dump for obscure reasons..(.they couldn't figure out the IEC plug...?)
Anyway, now the amp is buzzing and dead, apparently due to overheating by the big transformer in a sealed box for 10+ years.
Thoughts?
