The story at the time was that Bob Fulton had input at Harman-Kardon regarding design of the HK 430. So it was a popular choice for the smaller FMI speakers. I helped a woman from work set up a system built around a HK 430 and FMI 80s.
I remember hearing the J System driven by ARC electronic but that was early on. Later he demo'ed them with his own amp called the Footlocker since it was enclosed within one. He also favored a little known preamp (forget the brand) which was tailored to the Shure V-15 conical cartridge he loved as well.
