RE: Looking for Info on 'Double Box Speaker Cabinets'

Besides the Wharfdales mentioned(double panel sides with sand in the middle, there are others using similar concepts.

Off the top of my head the Rockport speakers come to mind. The less expensive ones use multiple layers with glue that doesn't totally dry known as constrained layer damping. This technique is especially good if the layers are different materials. The old IMF monitors of the 70s used this concept with wood inner box covered in Formica like material also with glue that didn't totally harden.

Rockport also uses shell construction with inner and outer shells of I think fiberglass or aluminum filled with a damping material in the middle.

I'll bet other audiophiles will come up with other types.
