There was more detail I might have included but I was concerned my review was already running on so long. So I hope I didn't give the impression that David created the damped back wave, he simply revised his father's work.
I remember the sound of Janszen speakers from the '70s. I believe they offered three or four similar models, the differences being the number of electrostatic panels and number/size of the woofers. And so far as I recall they were in sealed boxes so no back wave from the panels.
One friend had a pair of the larger model, driven by ARC SP-3 and D-70 with a Philipps turntable and ADC cartridge. He was nuts about the music of the MJQ and had many of their albums. I recall being so impressed by the detail and nuance those speakers revealed. For the first time in my experience I could distinguish the tone of each individual cymbal in Connie Kay's drum kit, whether struck by a stick or brush.
