This german site has some interesting actual measurements of drivers. Some you must subscribe, however that which I wish to illustrate is available openly...
Here a Thai Copy of the JBL 2226, which measures worse, but not "way bad" compared to the original.
And here a Parts Express ownbrand (Dayton) 6.5" Driver, incidentally one that is designed for relatively low distortion.
Look at the distortion and compression at comparable SPL's...
