Here's a link to standard EIA values for resistors (and other passive devices). You can get a 1% resistor (E-96) at 49.9 ohm.
The real question is why did the resistor blow. Where you a bad boy and crank those babies up to high? Is your amp clipping? I wouldn't attribute to old age; hell, I'm 67 and my resistance to change is as good as ever :).
