Any suggestions on decent low volume speakers? I'm looking for something that hangs together well when it's not cranked up, has a forgiving top end, and is musically involving.
Currently I play thief 1.6 in a small room, maybe 16 x 12. They sound good at high volumes, but I'f I'm not blasting them out, they lose their balance, way too much top end, way to little mids and bass.
I think I'm going to make a trip to listen to the harbeths (p3esr and compact 7).
Amplification is flexible: I have a pass aleph 3, a golden tube se 40 and spectral dma 50. Budget is less than $3,500, and cheap is good.
