It seems the Fostex PM05 MKII has been replaced with a newer model.
The new Model is called the Fosex PMO.5N
It looks basically the same, except they have radiused the edges of the baffles by the tweeter, presumably for even better imaging.
Amp power is still the same, and drivers LOOK the same, but there may be subtle changes ?
The cool things about these Fostex Monitors is they are sold at pro audio and music stores. Nearly all these types of stores will allow you to try them at home, and return them, no questions asked, if you do not like them!
Some Audiophiles may look down their noses at Pro Audio Guys, and Musicians, but as a rule these types are extremely fussy about their sound.
So, the stores that cater to this group of people have to give in home trials, as long as you pay for the speakers first.
Those of us who like to fuss with different amps and speaker cables will be shit out of luck with these Fostex Monitors.
However, those of us who love music will be tickled pink, because the amps are IN the speakers!
Really, if you are in a small room, and don't listen to Rap, they have real good bass, for such a small speaker.
In that case, all one would need is a preamp, OR, what would be really cool is a CD Player with output level controls on it.
That way, one could bypass the preamp altogether !!!!!!!
I judge all speakers by how many "God Dam that sounds good" moments I have with them.
I will not allow speakers that suck to be in my home for long.
Life is far too short to listen to shit speakers.
