For under $1000 and do the recomended tweeks (cork the horns and update the caps on the x-over) You will be floored. They are dynamic, have punch, very good imaging and clarity (Placement counts) I had a pr with a modded dynaco ST70 and it was magic....
I used a rebuilt Thorens and a bottlehead preamp
This was my basement system and I enjoyed it as much as my 30K upstairs system
I had and think the Dynaco Pre should be either modded or ditched. The Bottlehead foreplay III was about $350 and was a much better preamp for the dynaco amps. Their is lots of good used gear out there. Find the used cornwalls or Klipschhorns and get a new preamp and you will be very happy
