I'd say the first thing to address is the placement of the mains on top of the hutch.
In general, you want the tweeters to be firing somewhere around ear-level. Also, the speakers placed at the base of an isoceles or equilateral triangle [with the listening seat at the 3rd corner]. Also, depending of the speaker design, distance from side and rear wall need to be paid attention to.
Given space and WAF considerations, proper placement is not always feasible...in which case you may want to move your "serious listening rig" to a place where placement can be driven by acoustics and not aesthetics...and maybe a "lifestyle system" for the aesthetically demanding space.
