I first discovered this after reading an article in the old "Listener" magazine by the late and lamented Harvey Rosenberg. His hobbyhorse at the time, or one of them, was replacing whatever speaker wires you might be using with cheap and super-thin magnet wire from Radio Shack. I figured, this is crazy but why not give it a try?
I was using biwired Kimber 8TC at the time, into ProAc Response 3 speakers and the comparison was nigh unbelievable. MUCH greater clarity and openness, at the expense of a slightly anemic bottom end, but the magnet wire experiment made me a cable believer for life.
You do have to have an open mind, unlike the dismissive Disbeliever, and a willingness to try things. It helps to not be an EE, I guess :-)
