Are they meant to fill a large room with sound? Hardly. Will they image better than a floor stander? Most definately. Comparing bookshelves to floor standers is plain ludicrous regardless of price point. Like comparing apples and oranges.
Dismissing a speaker without hearing them is like saying speaker cables modify sound. Its just nuts.
