Dynamic, capable of high spl, for under $500?

I'm looking for some speakers that I can crank up, comfortably, for under $500. Here is my situation. I have a pair of Spica TC-60s (with the matching Gravity stands), powered by a Hafler Transnova 9300 (150 wpc). The Spicas are wonderfully accurate speakers. I have owned them for 15 years and have truly enjoyed them. However, they are not "head bangers"...and they're not supposed to be. Maybe it's a "mid life crisis", but I find myself wanting to crank up the stereo more often than I used to (or I'm going deaf!). I'd like to get something reasonably priced that I can crank up without any worries. It doesn't have to be the most accurate speaker, or capable of throwing the most dramatic soundstage. But it should be very dynamic, and able to play at painful volumes without excessive distortion or self destruction.

I'd be interested in suggestions. Thanks.
