Congratulations on your Cantons! I have the exact same ones as well, same color and with stands. These are super solid 3-way acoustic suspension speakers that are built to last for decades to come.
I was very lucky to stumble across mine not 10 miles from where I live. I'd never chance sending something like these through shipping without the original packing, unless having professional packing done at the seller's location.
I'm glad to hear that these are your current choice after auditioning so many speakers. I've gotten a chance to sample a good range, but not much into the higher end, so my ears don't have much of a basis of comparison. The only speakers I've heard that came close are the Canton CT-800's, two model steps below the Ergo. They are excellent performers and worth getting for under $300/pr. In all, my experience finds these speakers mostly neutral. The titanium tweeters can be bright with some musical content, but the advantage is incredibly good articulation. Recently, I was tempted to buy a set of Martin Logan Motion 12's that were on sale for a seriously great price ($600/pr), but the specifications are nearly identical. I decided not to take the chance and feel good that I didn't, based on what you've expressed.
Just out of curiosity, in what city did you find yours?
