$2000 for speakers with a real design and components costing hundrends is BS? May I recommend saving a cool $1000 and heading down to your local Circuit City or Best Buy and getting $1000 speakers with mediocre design (at best) poorly braced 5/8" particle board boxes (not MDF) and drivers from China worth about $5 a pop and crossover components worth pennies on the dollar and the obligatory $3 el-cheapo bi-wiring plate.
Perhaps you might find better value there....
What I am saying is that $2-3K is not a lot of money to pour out on speakers in the audiophile range, and that $1000 off a $3K speaker because it's been used is not a bad deal. Some people want 80-90% of new for stuff in premium shape. They're mad, of course, but many do.
