Spendor s5e + subwoofer

I have a pair of Spendor s5e that sound pretty good and look great in our living room, but I have always been somewhat unsatsified with the bass. The point was really driven home when I got a pair of Dahlquist DQM 9c's off of craigslist just for kicks. The Dahlquists have amazing bass, but my wife thiks (and I agree) that they are kind of fugly. So, now I'm wondering how the spendors would integrate with a subwoofer. Anyone Spendor s5e users out there with experiences to share???
