I've been auditioning speakers for about a month now, and have listened to pretty much everything that is locally available in my price range from a large variety of manufacturers, including Harbeth, Revel, Audio Physic, Devore, B&W, ProAc, Sonus Faber, Focal and Verity. To boot, I've listened to nearly all of them on my amp, and Ayre AX7e (which I brought with me to auditions where the dealer didn't have it). It's been a fun and educational experience!
I'm coming to the end of my quest, and have 2 final contenders: either Devore The Nines (which I would buy new) or Verity Parsifal Encores (which I would buy used, obviously, but from a Verity dealer). The Verity's are a bit more than the Devore's, but price notwithstanding, I'm leaning towards the Verity's due to their equally good midrange with improved bass extension & weight and effortless dynamics. Both speakers have a "just right" sounding midrange, which is clearly what I'm after.
My question...are there any long-term considerations with these speakers that would make me like either more/less in the long run? Or are these speakers that if they grab you, just keep playing music effortlessly for years?
