If you take the time to properly postition them and provide complementary electronics they sound quite wonderful for the price. Their imaging could be downright spooky real. Mine were never bright, but the low bass of course wasn't there. With my tubed electronics the tonality was lovely. They weren't the most detailed, but at their price point I don't think that's the most important virtue - far from it.
My main reason for selling the Spicas was they were too limiting for much of the music I prefer - large scale orchestral, choral - big complex music. They just couldn't handle that stuff dynamically . But if you listen to small scale music they are a bargain at what they sell for
