RE: REVIEW

I am very familiar with the TC60, as Parasound contracted with my factory to produce the first 200pcs of this speaker.

An inordinate amount of work went into their manufacture. John Bau would send us preassembled and tested crossovers (24 and 6dB, quite unusual for the day) plus drivers grouped into A, B and C pairs which were level and FR matched. We assembled, tested, and attached the thick felt (not foam) mask. Sound was quite natural and transparent, and the bass of excellent quality if limited quantity and extension. Power handling was limited by the extensive use of smallish iron-core inductors in the woofer filter, which saturated with too much input. Listening height was critical and the system measured flat only at a position which placed the listener's ears precisely between the tweeter and woofer. The window was only about 1" in either direction.

What killed the TC60, and Spica, was the high cost of the unit. It was announced at $800pr retail and there was extensive magazine advertising with this price in it. As best as I could determine, the manufacturing cost out the door was at least $740pr. Parasound lost money on each pair, hundreds of dollars at a time.

Fussy to set up, and a little demanding of its associated gear, the TC60 was a great speaker and holds up well to this day. Just be careful of that listening height, and point it straight at you, for flattest response.
