Well - if you think he will like it (because you do) buy it. For $2300 I'd look elsewhere. The system does not have a sub, it's just a bass driver in the box, as the smaller speakers have no bass to speak of. In my experience that system overall is pretty nasty sounding. Check out the latest Absolute Sound for system recommendations starting at less than $2000 .. IMO you (and your dad) can do much better than that system from Bose. Also, go online (or speak to a rep) at Audio Advisor and see what they would recommend.
