RE: REVIEW: Merlin Music Inc. TSM-MXr Speakers

Bobby...just an update:

I've been trying out some new CD's on the TSM's, but some of the biggest revelations came with listing to Beatles CD's.

What could be more shopworn and played out than "When I'm Sixty Four" or "Blackbird" and yet the speakers (some credit must be given to the fine Manley Stingray II amp as well) have awarded me nuances to songs I'd thought I knew beyond intimate.

However....I did find the improvement from the Oppo and Rega CD players to the Audio Aero quite small. In fact I truly feel the cables made a bigger improvement than the better CDP. I think that's not a knock on better CD players, but more of a comment on how far the whole format has advanced. A budget player like the Oppo can really do a great job, even in a system where the rest of the components are on a far higher level.

Anyway....keep 'em flying!
