Re: Keilidhs or Kabers?

cbob:

I will say this. I have actually seen and listened to them in the store, but they weren't broken in yet, and I'm loath to pass judgement until I hear them at their best.

However, what the pictures don't show (on their site) is the TOTAL remodeling if the cabinet to better deliver on the acoustics. The ugly box is gone, utterly. They went with a triangular type shape that projects the sound forward much more effectively than either the Kabers or the Keilidhs.

The only apparent weakness of the Ninka (and this is new, not broken in) is the bass unit. The Keilidhs aren't woofers, but they are forceful enough to be excellent on the lows due to the incredible articulation they offer. The problem with the Ninkas is that, whiule they have the tradmeark articulation, they have NO projection or presence. In short, the low-end is sadly underpowered. I'm hoping this will disappear as they break-in (one of the reasons I posted here was to see if anyone could back this hope up). They aren't deplorable, but they aren't (new) on the level of the Keiledhs... unless you run a subwoofer.

Crossing my fingers... oh, and yes, they are the Keilidhs replacement specifically, alkthough they are going for $200 or so more. I imagine Linn will release a new speaker to replace the Kaber in the 1st or 2nd quarter of '01.

Regards,
Rick
