Re: Denon AVR2800 and Paradigm Monitor 7 + CC-350 combination

Berk,

I would avoid the Denon AVR3300 like the plague. Denon has had more problems with the 3300 than all the others put togeather. Check out the over 100 reviews on AudioReview.com. The auctions are now flooded with refurbished units. I saw 60 on UBID alone this weekend. They have a very bad overheating problem as well as other problems. The 3801 or 3600 I believe replaced it. Steve's idea to upgrade to the 4800 is the best advice. The 4800 and higher models are also made in Japan. Production in Japan was a very big reason for the Denon reputation of reliability and excellence. I believe the 3300 was made in Korea which is where they have recently started making all there lower models now. The Marantz SR-7000 is worth looking at in the AVR 3300 price range. As quality a musical sound as Denon but different.

I have the Studio 20's and I am glad to have chosen them for music over the monitors. The trouble is that the Studio/CC is $500 and the studio ADP surrounds are close to $1000 a pair(2 Studio 20's in one speaker box). With the monitor 9 series you can use the CC-350 for a lot less and the ADP surrounds are a lot less. It might make sense to upgrade to the Studio 20's if everything else was the same but it sounds like the whole Studio system may go over your budget. You cannot match cheaper surrounds or a center without losing timbre matching as the two series use different tweeters etc.
