Room acoustics so tricky. I was once in a room where the standard recommendation of placing speakers on the short wall, firing down the long wall yeilded the worse sound imaginable. No bass, huge colorations. Out of disgust, I decided to break the "rules", turn everything around and place the speakers along the long wall. It left my sitting position rather closer to the speakers than I would ever had considered. As it turned out, the sound was great, with pretty deep bass. Amazing.Diagnal placement may have great benefits, in that the side walls will
have a constantly changing angle to the speakers, hence reducing sidewall comb filtering (perhaps even significantly). It could result
in the best sound ever, and a new trend.
