General wisdom is that you want minimal overlap between the sub and the main speakers.The main speakers will have less work to do when freed from reaching for the lows and would have increased clarity.
Also, you don't really want two different sources of the same frequency (your mains plus the subs). You would then need to address possible interfence from the two sources.
This is probably a topic for a whole book, but you can try different setups and see what works best for you.
