OK. Know what? I ran down to Best Buy and bought a pair of KLH 5001.
Deez bad boyz rock! Check it out: 42-1/2" high tower of power. 12" woofers, 12" passives, 5" midrange squakers, 1" dome tweeter. The cabinet walls are 3/8" low density chip board (cheaper and less strong than OSB). Man, deez suckers resonate. Yah Mahn! You rap deez wit yer knuckles and youz got a mofo congo drum. U betcha. I mean, these cabinets RESOUND!

They list fer $220 each, but Blessed Buy sells em fer $220/pair.
Why spend more? Izzat low enuf lowfi fer yuh?

Step #1---> According to MikeeeM (may his logic rule the universe), no matter how bad they sound, they'll sound TOTALLY night and day different the very second we change the power cable to the AV receiver pushing these things, or stick that $10k DAC into out system, which'll just magically transform these things into a super hot rod pair of Sonus Faber Electa Amator II (lookout, SF - Mikeee & his low fi's gonna gitcha).

OK. Now, I'm going take this pair of $220/pr 12" 3-way super boomers and stick them - stick them in my special LEDE room with $15k of acoustic treatment. YEAH! YEAH!

And, I've got them wired to $20k of high end electronics, $10k of which is spent on cables and magic pucks of various kinds.

Step #2 ---> I put these sorry loosers through a substantial burn in period, because that always just transforms a sow's ear into a silk purse, especially in the case of 3/8" Best Buy wonders.

Step #3 ---> After a 13-1/2 month burn in I'm ready to report that these low fi cow patty specials have become ABSOLUTELY nonresonant, ultra pure, "SOUNDS GOOD TUH ME" voice of god wonders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only horns could be better!!!!!!!!!!!
The frequency reponse has gone from +/- 35db to RULER FLAT from dc to light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And, when I thrust a magical Tice clock into it, and snuck up a magical Black Diamond Racing Cone under it, deez Best Buy KLH 5001 began to sound just like THE absolute sound: the juke box in the bar I get drunk, puke, & pass out; and the rock concert I get drunk, puke, and get drunk some more. Now that's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD sound!!!!!!!!

BUT- and this is a big butt - they ONLY sound this way in MY room, with MY cables, electronics, and magical incantations.
