RE: Wharfedale Glendale XP2 - Tweeters are out!

Hi, sorry if this is too late, looking at the original post date, it probably is. But, if you've still got the speakers, they may be repairable. I had the same problem on one of my Glendale XP2's, but it's now working again. I checked the output from the cross-over unit & there was a supply to the tweeter, but no sound!
Inspect the tweeter wiring with a magnifying glass. There are 2 tinned plates to which the feed wires are soldered. From the inner ends of the plates, under the lacquer, there is a very fine copper wire going to the tweeter coil. One of these is probably broken due to fatigue from the vibration of the tweeter.
Strip a strand of copper wire from an old domestic appliance flex, no bigger than 0.25mm dia and tin the wire with a soldering iron. Scrape away the lacquer from the tinned plate and solder the new wire on to the plate. Using a magnifying glass (unless you've got very good eye-sight) and a very small tipped iron, solder the new wire on to the broken wire coming out of the tweeter, you need to take great care so as not to damage the plastic dome of the tweeter. This should get your tweeter tweeting again! It took me three attempts last night before I finally had success, but it's now working again at no cost!
Good luck,
Alfixit
Ps. If you damage the tweeter with the soldering iron, you're no worse off than before you started!
