I spent a good amount of time auditioning the LSi9s before purchasing the floorstanding LSi25s. The LSi line was designed specifically for audiophiles and is a significant step above Polk's other models.
In short, the LSi9's sonic signature is a very smooth sound, slightly laid back, with very nice mids and a detailed but never bright treble (it uses a superb ring-radiator tweeter). It is never fatiguing on the ears. It images and sounds best when the speaker is pointed straight at the listener, though the sweet spot is large both vertically and horizontally.
Overall, I have often described the LSi line as tonally similar to speakers from Sonus Faber, Vienna Acoustics, and Vandersteen.
In my home, I have found that the LSi25s synergize beautifully with solid-state McIntosh and Quad components.
