Magnepan, Ohm Walsh or Bose 901 (vIV or V)?

(1st post here, I hope I've provided an appropriate amount of info and also not offended)

I am planning to add a pair of speakers for my apartment and am hoping someone was heard one of the speakers Iâ€™m considering as well as one or more I already have so they can compare/contrast. Iâ€™m planning on acquiring via patient bidding on ebay.

Prior speakers include Dahlquist DQ-10s, Ohm 2XOs, Boston Acoustics A100s and VR-950s.

The speakers will be driven using a Carver CD player, C-2 Pre-amp, and either a Carver M-500T (250 low distortion/high current WPC at 8ohm) or a Carver M-1.0T (similar, 200 WPC at 8, designed to emulate a reference tube amp), in a room 11-20. Both handle 4 or 6 ohm loads with ease.

I listen to a blend of acoustic jazz and jazz fusion, some blues, world beat, celtic and progressive rock, such as Wishbone Ash. Never have had a sub in a residence and donâ€™t plan to. I also donâ€™t give a rip about â€œhome theater". I listen to good music played by good musicians in stereo (CDs and some concert DVDs).

What I prize in speakers is the ability to give very detailed/nuanced clear sound without adding much of their own color, and very open sound. Iâ€™ve heard a pair of Magnepan MG-1Cs, but one ribbon needed repair, and the amp powering them was clearly a lesser amp, so I heard enough to sense the possibilities, but thatâ€™s about all.

My price range tops at $500.

Iâ€™m posting to both the general forum and the planar to try and pull in a cross section of responders.

I would greatly appreciate your input.
