Actually I did try the inline attenuators and though they did reduce the gain they also seemed to "hide" some the sound, veiled might be the right term as it sounded like someone was holding a blanket in front of me. That could be a problem with the speakers but quite honestly I enjoyed the music much more without the attenuators.

I'm listening to Klipsch KLF 10's, definitely a decent rock speaker but I know I can do much better and they're not up to par with the rest of the system. They can be very bright at times and to a large degree sound better when I'm outside the room, I have a 7 foot opening to the left of my living room, and yes that's a problem with the room itself and will eventually be closed with french doors.
