Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Flange is the part of the face plate

that rests against speaker front panel. It has holes for attaching screws. Cutting off segments of flange is not a big deal, especialy if it is plastic, like in Vifa tweeters. However, in more expensive tweeters it is aluminum, and I would think hard before sawing off a piece of a $160 tweeter.

Silk dome is indeed a way to go if you want clear and undistorted highs. But silk domes are not all equal. I can vouch for Scan Speak 9700 or Air Circ that I had experience with.
