RE: PSB T55 vs Monitor Audio RS6

Hello,
I had owned PSB T65 for 8 months and sold it. T65 and T55 sound similar. Only difference is that T65 produced more prodigious bass. As you mentioned, T55's apperance was way inferior to the MA RS6. PSB was too big (especially the depth) also finished in vinyl. Sound was smoother and warmer than the RS6, but sounded somewhat congested in complex materials.
The RS6's apperance was stunning, real wood veneer, solid binding posts.
Now the sound which is the most important thing. RS6 required more than 300 hours of break in. When I played them for the first time, I was disappointed; too bright and forward sounding. I guess those aluminum drivers needed lots of playing time before sound becomes optimal.
I used the Stereophile's burn-in test CD tracks day and night under the heavy blanket. My wife thought I was finally gone mad!
After few weeks of playing, brightness was gone. Bass became tight and controlled. Sound stage improved somewhat. Now I really like RS6. In my opinion, RS6 sounds quite neutral, refined, and can handle complex passages well.
My gears are not so called ultra expensive "high end" stuff. My amp is a 80's dual mono Sherwood power amp. Acurus RL 11 preamp, NAD CD542, and audioquest type 4 cables.
In my dedicated room, I have $4000.00 speakers and more expensive power amps, cd player, and the same Acurus RL11.
For the family room, the MA RS6 has its own place due to its handsome apperance and the neutral sound.
I guess your Marantz is suitable for RS6. If you have treble adjustment, don't be afraid of using it for few weeks. With all due respect, PSB is a mightly fine product, but I opted for RS6.
Happy Holidays!
