For the type of music that you listen to you are not going to find any speakers better than the Salk HT3's. I am talking about in your price range, of course.
In your comment, you mention that you are sensitive to lean sounding speakers. The Salk HT3’s sound like live instruments. Some people think live acoustic music sounds lean, so there is a slight chance that might bother you. You won’t get any “warmth†distortion with these speakers.
I personally like the excitement of hearing live acoustic music and after four years still get excited when I hear my speakers. Often, I think to myself, "I knew the speakers were good but I don't remember that they are that good!"
If you are interested, then you should talk to Jim Salk about your leanness concerns. He offers a money back guarantee, but I don't know if any body has taken him up on it with the HT3's.
