Speaker and Amp Compatability?

68.210.65.149

I am putting together a hi-fi system of used equipment, and would like advice on the compatability of the following components:
Speakers: Thiel CS1.2, 4 ohm, 40-150 watts, 87 dB
Preamp/Receiver: Luxman R-351, 8 ohm, 55 watts continuous
Amp: Luxman M-111, 8 ohm, 70 watts @ 2 channels
CD Player: Nakamichi CD Player 4
I have the speakers and the preamp, and the final amp is on the way. I have heard that it is okay to drive 4 ohm speakers with 8 ohm amps, as long as the amp is high quality. The Luxman-351 manual says it has "the ability to handle real-life low impedance reactive speaker loads without instability. It can deliver over 160 watts into 2 ohm loads under dynamic music conditions."
Question 1: Will these components work well together?
Question 2: Is the M-111 amp going to handle the 4 ohm Theils as well as the R-351 receiver/preamp will, like the receiver's manual quotes above?
Question 3: How should I wire my speakers? Parallel, Series, or Parallel/Series?
Question 4: Am I in danger of supplying too much power for these speakers? Or too little, for that matter?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I obviously don't have very much knowledege. I am on a budget, and got the Thiels on barter from someone. The mid-range drivers were separated at the diaghram, but Theil replaced them for free! The outputs on the receiver were shot, but I had those replaced. Any chance that the tweeters (aluminum diaghram) are also shot? Would it be obvious? The CD player, R-351, and Theils sound good together, but not what I would call dazzling. The amp I just bought on e-bay, and I am just now learning about ohms, watts, and compatability. Should I hook it up when it comes in the mail? How's that for getting the cart before the horse? Thanks again.
