It says it was finally shown, although in a limited way, during this ongoing design week in Helsinki - this was a much anticipated and ballyhood event (that of course). Gradient has only disclosed the model name (1.5) and the fact that this is a successor to their earlier 1.3 that was discontinued in the '90s.The closer description of the model:
"The height of the unit is approximately 90 cm. The metal capped(?) tweeter is 19 mm in diameter and has a waveguide. The midrange driver is a 13-cm cone seated in a resistace capable enclosure (??). Both the tweeter and esp. the midrange driver have been tilted to minimize floor reflections. The bass driver seems to be the same 30-cm unit that was used in Revolution [another model of theirs] in a pair, and as in Revolution the driver here functions as a dipole. Since the driver is aligned with the frame the speaker allows two different placement methods. The obvious one is to push the units against the front wall and leave them in a straight angle with respect to the wall. Another possibility is angling them radically at 45 degrees, which was the setup used at this event, too.
The frame is glass and wood veneer. The wood veneer body also houses the crossover element apart from the large serial coil (??) component required by the dipole bass. The latter is wrapped around the magnet of the LF element. You can audition these speakers during the Helsinki Design Week, in a system comprising a Michell TecnoDec (??) and an integrated McIntosh tube amp. The Hifimaailma magazine [this one] will report on the sound quality in a subequent issue."
I think my audio Finnish is getting a bit rusty.
