Was there ever a time when an 8" driver actually had an 8" cone? I've looked over speakers of all kinds and it seems so many manufacturers are measuring the outside of the mounting flange or frame and counting it as the cone size. A perfect example are my Klipsch 8" that are measured across the mounting frame. The actual business part, inside the rubber surround, is just 5 1/2"! I would hate to measure their 5 1/4" driver. So, what gives? Where's the truth in advertising these days? Asleep under a tree?
