One of my favorite pairs of speakers that I have owned. I only sold them because I moved to a place where I couldn't accommodate their very specific needs about placement in the room.Unless you've abused your ears spectacularly, I doubt that you're going deaf in the treble at 35 (I'm 58, and I should know).
These are not dull sounding speakers. It sounds to me very much like, for whatever reason, the tweeters are not working.
Apparently, replacing the tweeter is not that difficult, so have at it!
